HOW THE VERIFICATION PROCESS WORKS
Our verification process is designed to be simple, secure, and respectful of your privacy. We've streamlined the process to take just a few minutes of your time while maintaining the highest security standards.
You'll need a valid government-issued ID (national ID, passport, or driver's license) and your smartphone or camera. Make sure your ID is not expired and the photo is clear and readable. You'll also need to take a selfie holding your ID next to your face.
Navigate to your Settings and select the "Verified ID" badge tab. Upload three photos: the front of your ID, the back of your ID, and a selfie holding your ID. Our system automatically compresses large images to ensure fast, secure uploads. All uploads are encrypted during transmission.
Our trained verification team manually reviews each submission to ensure authenticity. We check that the ID is valid, matches the selfie, and meets our verification standards. This human review process helps prevent sophisticated fraud attempts that automated systems might miss.
Once approved, you'll immediately receive your verified badge on your profile and all your listings. You'll be notified of the approval, and your verified status will be visible to all buyers. If your submission is rejected, you'll receive detailed feedback on what needs to be corrected, and you can resubmit immediately.
Your ID documents are automatically and permanently deleted from our systems immediately after verification is complete. We only retain the verification status and date—no images, no ID numbers, no personal details. This ensures your sensitive information is never stored long-term.
YOUR PRIVACY & DATA SECURITY
We take your privacy extremely seriously. We understand that sharing your ID documents requires trust, and we've implemented industry-leading security measures to protect your information.
Your ID documents (front, back, and selfie images) are automatically and permanently deleted from our systems immediately after the verification review is complete. Whether your verification is approved or rejected, the actual document images are removed from our servers within minutes of the decision.
We only retain:
- Your verification status (approved/rejected)
- The date of verification
- The admin who reviewed it (for audit purposes)
We do NOT store: ID images, ID numbers, document details, or any personally identifiable information from your documents.
During the Verification Process
All document uploads are encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption during transmission. Your documents are never sent in plain text over the internet.
While awaiting review (typically 1-2 days), your documents are stored in encrypted, private cloud storage with strict access controls. The storage location is isolated from our main application servers.
Only authorized admin staff with specific verification permissions can access submitted documents. All access is logged and monitored for security and compliance purposes.
We never share, sell, or transmit your ID documents to any third parties, marketing companies, or external services. Your documents are used solely for verification.
What's Visible Publicly
Only the verified badge icon appears on your profile and listings if your verification is approved. No other information from your ID is displayed—not your ID number, date of birth, address, or any other personal details. Buyers simply see that you're a verified, authenticated seller.
Why We Delete Documents
We believe in the principle of data minimization—we only keep what we absolutely need. Once we've verified your identity, we don't need to keep your ID documents. By automatically deleting them, we:
- Minimize your risk in case of any security incident
- Reduce our liability and storage costs
- Demonstrate our commitment to your privacy
- Comply with best practices in data protection
- Give you peace of mind that your sensitive documents aren't sitting in a database
COMPLIANCE & LEGAL PROTECTION
Our verification process complies with international data protection regulations including GDPR principles of data minimization and purpose limitation. We maintain secure audit logs of verification actions (who reviewed, when, decision made) for security and compliance purposes. These logs do not contain your ID images or personal details.
Because we automatically delete ID documents after verification, there is no long-term storage of sensitive documents that could be compromised in a data breach. Your verification status is stored, but not your actual ID. This approach significantly reduces risk for both you and our platform.
